When you’re invited to a candidate selection call, you need to record an intro video tailored to the job and partner. This is your chance to make a strong impression, increasing your chances of moving forward.

The Matching Team will guide you on what to highlight in your videos. You can check out these sample videos for reference:

A. Check Your Setup

You may download Loom’s Desktop App or the Chrome Extension, then select the “Camera Only” option. If you’re using another app, ensure the video is viewable and downloadable.

Other tips and reminders:

  • Video Format: Record in full-screen (camera only) and landscape mode.

  • Clear & Steady Visuals: Use a laptop camera, webcam, or smartphone and ensure steady footage.

  • High-Quality Sound: Use a headset or microphone, preferably with noise cancellation. You may use Krisp to minimize background noise.

  • Work-Conducive Environment: Record in a tidy and quiet space with good lighting and a neutral background.

  • Camera Positioning: Step back so your upper body is visible and position the camera at eye level.

B. Write Your Cue Cards

Use cue cards to outline key points for your video, then elaborate in your own words to create a more natural delivery.

Let's break your intro video into three parts:

1. Intro

Greet the partner enthusiastically by mentioning their company name, then introduce yourself with your preferred name. Clearly state the purpose of your video and express your genuine interest in the role.

2. Content

Start strong by talking about your most relevant experience first with specific examples! Check the What’s Required From You section in the job details for tips on what to highlight in your video.

For experiences not directly related to the role, mention them briefly after discussing your relevant experience. Summarize the details in a broad sense, like:

"Additionally, I have accumulated 6 years of experience as a manager, where I streamlined operations and led my team to exceed performance targets by 30%, enhancing overall productivity.”

Pro Tip: If you lack direct, relevant experience, highlight how your existing skills and past experiences are transferable and will contribute to your success in this new role.

3. Outro

Enhance your presentation by highlighting what particularly excites you about the role or the company. Lastly, add a personal touch to your intro video by sharing a fun fact about yourself!

Pro Tip: Keep it fun, but neutral. Avoid topics like politics, religion, etc. Don’t go overboard with your personal stuff.

C. Record Your Video

IMPORTANT! Keep your video to a maximum of 2 minutes to maintain view engagement.

Get ready to showcase your personality on camera! Here are some tips for your video:

  • No need for a suit; just dress appropriately for work.

  • Look directly at the camera as if you’re talking to the partners, and avoid reading from a script.

  • Feel free to record a few takes until you feel comfortable in front of the camera.

  • Be yourself and speak naturally.

Pro Tip: Relax and just have fun! 😄
